とうとう完成した小径車2号機を取材。
200km走行試験も完了し、これから再び分解して再塗装され、9/30にオーナーに納品されます。幸せに暮らせよ。
Mahogany Mini Wheel Roadbike No. 2 was completed and subjected to 200km test ride by Sueshiro and Mr. Chomei.
MWR-T2 will be disassembled and revarnished, and assembled again.

美しい姿に仕上がった小径2号機。見とれちゃいます。
チェーンリングは70t+60tとなり、60tへ手で掛け替えられるようになっています。しかし60tの出番はないだろうと末四郎。
Beautiful appearance of MWR-T2. Chain rings are 60T and 70T, either of which can be selected by hand.

いつものように8方向からじっくりご覧ください。

車体重量はペダル無しで7.7kgほどとのこと。フレームはマホガニーロードバイクより大きいのに、とても軽いです。
The weight of MWR-T2 is about 7.7kg without pedals.

オーナーはアンパンマン号のKさん。3年待ちでやっと入手。感慨深いでしょうな。
The owner, Mr. K, obtained this bike after three years from order.

バーテープの汚れが200kmの試験走行を物語る。もちろん、納品前に全て交換されます。
The stain of the bar tape proves the test run of 200km.

末四郎は小径車のほうが700cよりもずっと手間がかかるという。特にヘッドチューブの精度を出すのが極めて難しいという。
Sueshiro says that a mini wheel bike is more difficult to build than a 700c bikes.

作ってみないとわからないことがたくさんあるんでしょうね。
There must be a lot of things that cannot be understood unless we try it.

今回の自信作であるマホガニーエアロホイール。小径車1号機のマホガニーエアロホイールよりも100ｇ軽くできた。
This mahogany front aero wheel is the masterpiece of MWR-T2. The manogany spokes are hollow.
It is lighter than that of Mahogan Mini Wheel Bike No. 1 by 100g by forming many cavities in the rim.

シイテイズ CTSで特注した70-60tチェーンリング。フロントディレーラーは小径車の構造上装着が困難なので、必要ならば手で60tへ掛け替える。
基本的にはチェーン脱落防止用でしょうか。
The chain rings of 60T and 70T. Because a front derailleur cannot be installed on MWR-T2, the front gears are changed by hand.

長命さんもこの自転車のテスト走行に協力したが、1号機よりも格段に走行性能が増した、と太鼓判を押した。
長命さんの小径車も、この2号機とほぼ同じ形状にするそうです。
Mr. Chomei conducted test ride of this bike, and he evaluated that its running performance is much higher than that of MWR-T1.

空を写すマホガニーサドル。堅そうですが、フレーム全体で弾性支持するので、堅さを感じない座り心地。載った者だけがわかる。
The sky is reflected on the surface of the mahogany saddle.
Although it may seem to be hard, because the saddle is elastically supported by the mahogany frame, it offers comfortable ride.

シートステーのスリット。強く握るとたわむのがわかる位です。
A slit of the seat stay. You can even feel elastic deformation if you grasp both side of the slit.

実物を目にしたお客様も驚く。試乗はいかがでしたか。

マホガニーバイクの漕ぎ方を説明する末四郎。漕ぎ方を知らずに載ると、力をうまく利用できない。
Sueshiro explains how to pedal the mahogany bike. With unsuitable pedalling, the mahogany frame does not offer the assist effects.

なんじゃこれは、という位の軽さなのに、高い剛性を感じる。
Although the mahogany wheel is surprisingly light, it provides unbelievable rigidity.

ハブもマホガニー積層体のパイプで形成され、中に金属パイプはない。
木製パイプの両端にいきなりNSKの高性能ベアリングが固定されている。
The hub was formed with laminated mahogany. There is no metal pipe in the inside.
NSK's high-quality bearings were directly attached in the mahogany tube.

リムの中には多数の空洞が形成され、マホガニースポークは厚さ3mmの中空構造。リムの肉抜きで、小径1号機のホイールより100g軽くなった。
本物のマホガニー以外に、この構造でこの強度を出せる木材はない。
In order to reduce the weight, many holes were formed on the outer periphery of the mahogany rim,
and the thickness of walls of mahogany hollow spokes are only 3mm.

この接合部にどれほどのノウハウが詰まっているか、外観から想像することは難しいですな。
It is difficult to imagine how many knowhows are contained in this mahogany wheel.
